Senior Safety Advisor

Our safety advisors are accountable to the Head of Safety – UK, for the continuous development of the company's Safety Management System and a key part in both supporting and driving a positive safety culture within the business. They are responsible for championing the promotion of Safety, Risk Management and continuous improvement across our UK Ground, Transport and Cargo Divisions. Advisors will work within the Safety Team to ensure continuation in building strong networks and relationships internally and externally, to embed safety as one of dnata's core values.

 

Job Summary:

Promoting & driving a positive Health & Safety Culture within the workplace and ensuring dnata's Health & Safety Policy is implemented consistently across all 3 Divisions of the dnata UK Network. Advisors will assist in the Protection of employees and company assets while working alongside our prestigious Airline partners and customers.

Advisors will be required to complete and assist in the completion of thorough investigation of incidents & accidents, ensuring effective mitigations across the business as well as coaching, guiding peers and Management Teams. Ensuring the organisation complies with current health and safety legislation and approved codes of practice, offering and co-coordinating specialist advisory support to the frontline safety teams. Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing Health and Safety policy and practice, making recommendations and implementing new policies and procedures as required.

 

Job Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Cert or Equivalent
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Previous experience in similar or equivalent airport / cargo role (desirable)
  • Evidence of computer/systems skills (including word, excel and power-point)
  • Experience of report writing and presentation of management reports (desirable)
  • Full UK/EU driving licence
  • Safety driven with the ability to maintain a safe and secure working environment
  • The role is based at our Manchester office but some travel is expected as the job holder will have oversight for our Glasgow, Newcastle and Birmingham stations.
  • Pre-employment checks - ability to achieve successful completion of the referencing (checkable 5 year employment/education history) and criminal record check procedures to meet dnata and CAA security regulations, and a satisfactory medical report.

 

Hours of work:

37.5 hours a week, flexibility required to meet business needs and deadline
