The Operational Risk Officer plays a critical role in fostering a safe working environment by promoting a culture of safety in accordance with company policies. This position is responsible for identifying and mitigating operational risks within Ground Handling, while coordinating with external providers to ensure compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate across all levels of the organisation on matters concerning Safety and Operational Risk, conduct regular audits and inspections to identify improvement opportunities, and ensure adherence to dnata's comprehensive Health and Safety, Environmental, Security, Fire Safety and Quality policies. A key aspect of this role involves conducting workforce briefings and actively encouraging feedback on all aspects of Operational Risk and Safety, creating an environment where safety concerns are openly discussed and addressed.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a good working knowledge of Ground Handling operational functions.
- Complete safety inspections and internal audits on all Ground Handling activities, equipment, facilities and staff to ensure all are compliant with our safety regulations and procedures.
- Report findings and identify areas for improvement by implementing new policies and procedures whilst collaborating with various departments and managers at all levels.
- Fulfil the ATC role on the QR product raising any anomalies or concerns to senior management and the airline.
- Attend internal, customer and stakeholder meetings to provide updates on Operational Risk and Safety performance and contribute with supporting information and actions.
- Be responsible for promoting dnata's Safety Culture within the operation, STOP initiative, and regularly engage with staff to coach, advise and offer feedback and discussion on all Safety and Operational Risk matters.
- Offer coaching, development and co-ordinate specialist advisory support to the frontline teams.
- Complete safety reports in accordance with company procedures and support the management team with investigations.
- Undertake audits in accordance with agreed targets and report any trends or areas for improvement.
- Identification of trend analysis and key areas for improvement of any Operational Risks and emerging Safety Risks.
- Review and assist the safety department with risk assessments and the identification of local variations.
- Always communicate in a professional manner.
- To undertake any other duties as required by management deemed reasonable for the role.
